Chapters

Chapters are a powerful way to break up your transcript into logical, named segments. They make it easier for you to navigate, help your viewers or listeners navigate your published content, and can be used as a basis for specific editing instructions.

To see a list of all chapters in your project, click the bookmark icon in the top-right corner of the editing screen. In the menu, clicking on any chapter title will move the playhead to the beginning of that chapter, allowing for quick preview.

When you first upload your content, Rejig automatically suggests initial chapter divisions and titles. You can then adjust these either manually or automatically.

Manual Adjustment

  • Edit Title:
Click on a chapter’s title in the transcript to edit its text.

  • Delete Chapter:
Click the bin icon on the right of the chapter title in the transcript. The content of the deleted chapter will merge with the preceding chapter.

  • Insert Chapter:
In the transcript view, hover your cursor between two lines where you want a new chapter to begin. A box with a dotted line will appear - click on it, then click the "Insert Chapter" button. A new chapter point will be created, and its title will be automatically generated based on the content.

  • Move Chapter Break:
Grab the drag handle icon on the left side of a chapter title and drag it up or down to a new position. This changes where the chapter break occurs.

Automatic Adjustment

  • All Chapters:

Open the chapter menu, specify the desired total number of chapters, and press the refresh icon. Rejig will re-analyse the content and create the specified number of chapters with new titles.

  • Individual Chapter Titles:
Click the refresh icon located to the right of the chapter title to have Rejig suggest a new title for that chapter based on its content.

Notes

  • Chapters are always contiguous - the end point of one chapter is the starting point of the next. The first chapter always begins at the start of your media, and the last chapter always extends to the very end.

  • When inserting a chapter, the title of the chapter above the new one will not automatically change and may need to be manually edited or regenerated for accuracy.

  • The first chapter does not have a drag handle icon as its starting point is fixed at the beginning of the media.
