Export Timeline

Rejig offers a timeline export for users who prefer to perform final polishing or integrtion in non-linear editing (NLE), or digital audio workstation (DAW) software. This exports your version as an edit decision list.

Rejig offers four timeline formats, designed to ensure compatibility with most popular video and audio editing software. To import your timeline, please consult the instruction manual for your specific editing software.

Conforming

An exported timeline file contains the editing decisions (cuts, timings) but does not contain the actual media (video/audio) itself. After importing the timeline into your NLE/DAW, you will need to link it to your original, high-resolution media file. This process is often called "conforming" or "relinking."

To assist with this conforming process, Rejig provides a "Local file path" setting during timeline export. This allows you to specify the name or location of your original media file on your computer or network storage. This information is embedded in the timeline file and can help your editing software automatically find and link the correct media.

You can set either:

  • A relative path (e.g., original-name.mp4 if the media file will be the same folder as your project file).

  • An absolute path (e.g., /Users/yourname/Videos/MyProject/original-media.mp4 or C:\Users\yourname\Videos\MyProject\original-media.mp4).

If, after importing the timeline, your editing software does not automatically link the media:

  1. Ensure the original media file (with a filename matching what Rejig used or what's expected by the timeline) is imported into your NLE/DAW's media pool or project bin.

  2. Use your software's relink/offline files functionality to manually point the timeline clips to the imported media.
